CPD for Schools

Continuing Professional Development
for Primary Schools

A new series of  courses on addressing spelling difficulties are in development.  The first of these courses is available now.
This video presents evidence of the importance of an integrated approach when teaching spelling that focuses on phonic, orthographic and morphemic knowledge from the very beginning.  Samples of independent writing are considered highlighting the essential role of phonology, orthography and morphology in spelling development  for children 5 to 6 years of age, 6 to 7 years of age and 7 to 8 years of age.  The video introduces an approach to monitoring spelling development by considering the sources of knowledge evident in children's spelling errors.
The continuous running time for this video is 36 minutes, however it is necessary to pause the video for discussion and activities.  Ideally you should allow between 1 hour and 1 hour 30 minutes to engage with the issues raised.  There is a handout for staff members and  guidance  for the teacher leading this CPD session. Please complete the enquiry form below if you would like to find out more. Please note that this is not an order form and access to this CPD video is for schools only.
REVIEW
'We have recently used this video and the accompanying materials for further staff training. As usual the materials are clear, concise and meaningful with the content well substantiated by valid research and example. The additional materials in terms of handouts and a guide to pause points, timings etc. were invaluable. Once again this company have provided truly useful support for schools using this excellent scheme.'
